April 2012 Visa Bulletin and Analysis

April 2012 Visa Bulletin was released yesterday and the priority dates are 01 MAY 10 for EB2 India and 01 SEP 02 for EB3 India. For China, the numbers are 01 MAY 10 for EB2 and 01 MAR 05 for EB3.
EB2 India date has not moved while EB3 India has moved 9 days compared to last visa bulletin.

Unlike the previous visa bulletins, no prediction is offered by the DOS itself, in this Visa Bulletin. Also, the demand data released earlier this month offers no indication of what is happening with the number of I-485s received under EB2 India category. I expected to see some large numbers as it opened up the priority dates till 30 April 10. On the contrary it shows only 50 as the base determination number for this bulletin.

Looks like the rapid movement in the EB2 India category has come to a stop. I think it will retrogress in the upcoming bulletin. It will be a very good news if it stays at the same date for EB2 India category.

I am expecting two reports to be released next month -- one is the updated I-485 inventory data as of end of march and another is the visa office report indicating the actual number of green cards issued under each category for FY 2011. These 2 data will give a very good idea of what we can expect the rest of the year. Also, all this will become invalid and EB-India folks will become lucky if any change in law comes their way like the HR 3012. Lets hope that happens !

For EB3 India, it is going to move at this pace only till there is a legislative change. The reason being there is no spill over to EB3 India category. Hence only about 2800 green cards are given for this category every year.

  4. If I have a PD of Apr 1st 2003, and going by 9 days per months movement, would it be fair to say my PD will become current in 72 months ? (i.e 6 years!!!!!!!)

Would love to hear from you.
