USCIS has released the pending I 485 inventory update. The image above shows the I 485 pending invertory for chargeability country India as of October 1, 2010.
The September 2010 visa bulletin says EB2 India priority date is 08 MAY 06 and EB3 India priority date is 01 JAN 02.
There are about - 24,254 - I-485 applications pending for EB2 India and about 56,640 applications pending for EB3 India. But, for EB2 India there are more than 1600 applications pending which has priority date before May 2006. May be all these applications have some RFE and that is why they are pending. Relatively very less, about 200, applications are pending for EB3 India category which have the priority date before 01 Jan 02.
10,000 green cards or more had been issued for every year, for the last 3 years for EB2 India category. If the same trend continues, almost all of the pending I-485s will be cleared in another 1.5 years for this category.
On the other hand, future looks very bleak for EB3 India category. We surely need a change in law for this category to move any faster or we are still looking at another 20 years to get the green card for people like me who have a priority date of June 2007.
