USCIS has announced today that it will continue accepting applications for H1b general quota as well as the advanced degree quota.
For the fiscal year 2010, the quota or "Cap" is 65,000 applicants for general category and another 20,000 for applicants with a Master's or higher level degree from a U.S. academic institution. The fiscal year will start from Oct 1,2009 and will end of Sept 30,2010. But, the USCIS started accepting the applications from April 1, 2009.
USCIS said, as of June 26, 2009, they have received 64,800 total applications. Of that, there are about 20,000 advanced degree applications (Through, H1b visa reform act of 2004). Of these applicantions, few might be denied or revoked or withdrawn. So, they decided to accept both the general quota and advanced degree quota applications.
