USCIS updated as on July 10, 2009, they have received approximately 44,900 H-1B cap-subject petitions and approximately 20,000 petitions qualifying for the advanced degree cap exemption. Of these applicantions, few might be denied or revoked or withdrawn. So, they decided to accept both the general quota and advanced degree quota applications.
On June 26, 2009 USCIS updated us saying they had received 44,800 applications. Just 100 applicants more 14 days. This reflects today's economic reality. Last year, the total USCIS received about 130000 applications within first 2 days.
